Congratulations to Charlotte on Holly your practical test with the help of Gary from Intensive Courses
Dear Dennis
My daughter Charlotte passed her driving test today with the lovely Gary. I would like to thank you for recommending Gary as a teacher for Lottie. He has been absolutely wonderful and has worked wonders! I don’t know what we would have done without him. Charlotte had already had 2 Instructors before Gary, which did not work out well, he is a wonder! We would both like Gary to take Lottie on the Motorway course and will be in touch asap.
Once again thank you very much!
Regards
Julie xxxx

Where is the best quietest place to start your lessons?
Cranley Gardens going onto Linden Road. Also, Onslow Gardens and Woodland Gardens are great places to start your driving lessons, doing the basics like turning left and right. Then as your confidence grows you can head up Park Road towards Crouch End.
What are the speed limits on the roads?
They are mostly 30 mph and a few 20 mph roads. The A10 and the A406 roads are 40 mph and 50 mph so keep a check on the speed limits when joining.
Are there any big or small roundabouts in my area?
Very few roundabouts in the area but if you’re looking to practice roundabouts I would suggest heading up towards the Great Cambridge roundabout where the A10 road meets the A406 North Circular. Also Brent Cross there is a busy Roundabout. Heading towards Highbury and Islington there is a medium-sized roundabout.
Are there any dual carriageways?
The A1 Holloway Road, , A41, A10 Great Cambridge Road and the A406 North Circular Road are the closest dual carriageways
What are the best times during the day to do your driving lessons?
It gets busy around rush hour times but if you go in the opposite direction to the traffic you should still be able to get a lot of driving done. In the mornings it’s busy heading into Central London and in the evening it’s busy heading out from London. Doing driving from around 10 am to 3 pm you can get a lot done as it’s less busy.
Are there any busy/difficult/unusual junctions?
There a quite a few hills in the area so make sure you practice hill starts. Most of the main roads get busy. Joining the A1 from the side roads can be a bit hectic so you may have to be patient when waiting for a break in the traffic. Keep a check out for bus lane operating times.
Are there any places to practice bay parking?
There are not many places to practice except in housing estates. Alexandra Palace has a few car parks to practice in when there are no events happening. Brent Cross shopping centre has lots of places to do bay parking.

There are 8 DVSA practical test centres not too far away, Tottenham, Wood Green, Mill Hill, Hendon, Chingford, Enfield, Borehamwood and Barnet.
Which is the easiest test centre to do your practical driving test in my area?
All test centres are the same. If you’re not a fan of roundabouts then Wood Green and Tottenham have fewer roundabouts on the test routes but if you are going to do your test in either Wood Green or Tottenham make sure you practice the Great Cambridge Roundabout from all directions. Enfield is a more flowing area with a good mix of Roads, Chingford test centre has an uneven car park so be careful if doing the bay park on test. There are more country roads on the Barnet routes, and Borehamwood has lots of mini-roundabouts. Hendon and Mill Hill cover mostly the same routes and you are likely to go on the A41 dual carriageway.
