Where is the best quietest place to
Ascot Road turning onto North Avenue, Next right onto Argyle Road then following around up St Peter’s Avenue. Driving around this area gives you a chance to change gears, clutch control and turn lefts and rights. The roads around are generally quiet except for the major roads like the Roundway and White Hart Lane.
What are the speed limits on the roads?
There are mostly 30 mph, The north Circular A406 is right on your doorstep. The speed limits change from 50mph down to 30 mph
Are there any big or small roundabouts in my area?
Very few roundabouts in the area but if you’re looking to practice roundabouts I would suggest heading up towards the Great Cambridge roundabout where the A10 road meets the A406 North Circular. Cooks Ferry Roundabout is just down the road towards the Costco shopping centre.
Are there any dual carriageways?
The A10 and the A406 are the closest dual carriageways
What are the best times during the day to do your driving lessons?
It gets busy around rush hour times but if you go in the opposite direction to the traffic you should still be able to get a lot of driving done. In the mornings it’s busy heading into Central London and in the evening it’s busy heading out from London. Heading up to Edmonton itself is normally quieter.
Are there any busy/difficult/unusual junctions?
Most of the main roads get busy. Joining the A10 and the North Circular from the side roads can be a bit hectic so you may have to be patient when waiting for a break in the traffic. Upper Edmonton is pretty busy most days.
Are there any places to practice bay parking?
There are not many places to practice except in housing estates. Ikea of the North Circular is a great place to practice. Also, the big Tesco store beside it has a big car park to practice in. Costco has limited spaces but if practicing early morning on a weekend it should be quiet before the store opens.
Which are my nearest theory test centres?
The nearest theory test centres are Southgate, Ilford, and Mile End which have 3 centres A, B and C, then there is London Bridge (Southwark) theory test centre.
Where is my local practical test centre?
There are 4 DVSA practical test centres not too far away, Tottenham, Wood Green, Chingford, and Wanstead.
Which is the easiest test centre to do your practical driving test in my area?
All test centres are the same. If you’re not a fan of roundabouts then Wood Green and Tottenham have fewer roundabouts on the test routes but if you are going to do your test in either Wood Green or Tottenham make sure you practice the Great Cambridge Roundabout from all directions. Wanstead and Chingford have a few major roundabouts on their test routes. The Water works Roundabout can be a challenge.
